Photography is in the eyes of the beholder.  I believe that the eye of your lens helps you to tell a story and in order to know what that story is you must first know the subject a little better before you can take the shot.  If it means sitting for two hours until you feel the subject then that is what you must do.  But in the end you will have an exultant photo and you will be happy with your work.  I once laid on the ground by a dock for 2 different days straight until I got the right light for photo I was trying to take but I finally go the shot and it was great not only cause I got the right feel of the shot but because I knew when I clicked it I knew it was going to be a shot to remember.
